Terms & Conditions

Last Updated: 10 May 2025  ·  Effective Date: 10 May 2025

Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully before making use of Geartide's services or website. By submitting a watch for assessment or service, or by using this website, you agree to the terms set out below. Questions should be directed to [email protected].

1. Definitions

  • "Geartide" / "we" / "us" / "the workshop" — the watch repair and restoration business operated at 88 Chang Klan Road, Chang Khlan, Chiang Mai 50100, Thailand.
  • "Client" / "you" — any individual who submits a watch for assessment or service, or who uses this website.
  • "Service" — any watch servicing, restoration, or assessment activity carried out by the workshop.
  • "Condition note" — the written assessment provided to the client before any work begins, detailing findings, proposed scope, and estimated cost.
  • "Agreement" — these Terms & Conditions, as accepted by your use of our services or website.

2. Acceptance of terms

By submitting a watch for assessment or service, or by using this website, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age, have the legal capacity to enter into an agreement, and accept these terms in full. If you are submitting a watch on behalf of another person or organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to do so.

3. Services provided

Geartide offers three service tiers for watches: Everyday Service, Surface & Seal Refresh, and Legacy Overhaul. Descriptions and starting prices for each tier are published on our website. Services are available to clients in Thailand. Postal services for clients outside Chiang Mai are available and must be arranged in advance by prior agreement with the workshop.

4. Service process and client responsibilities

When you submit a watch for assessment:

  • A written condition note will be produced and provided to you before any work begins.
  • You must confirm your agreement with the proposed scope and cost before the service commences. Verbal or written confirmation via email or phone is sufficient.
  • If you decide not to proceed after receiving the condition note, the watch will be returned to you at no charge.
  • You are responsible for providing accurate contact information and for being available to respond to communications within a reasonable timeframe.
  • You confirm that you are the rightful owner of any watch submitted, or have the owner's consent to submit it for service.

5. Scope changes and additional work

If findings during a service suggest that additional work is needed beyond the agreed scope, Geartide will contact you before proceeding. No additional work will be undertaken without your explicit agreement. If contact cannot be made within a reasonable period (typically five working days), work will pause and the situation will be noted in the service record.

6. Pricing and payment

All prices are quoted in Thai Baht (฿). Starting prices are as published on the website. Final cost is agreed after the condition note and before work begins. Payment is due upon collection or, for postal clients, prior to return despatch. Accepted payment methods include cash (in-person) and bank transfer. Details will be provided on request.

In the event that parts are sourced on your behalf for a Legacy Overhaul, the cost of those parts will be included in the final invoice and disclosed to you before ordering.

7. Timelines

Estimated timelines are provided at the condition note stage and are given in good faith. They are not contractual commitments. Delays may arise from parts availability, the complexity of findings, or circumstances beyond our control. You will be notified if a service is likely to take materially longer than estimated.

8. Postal services

For clients submitting watches by post, packaging must be agreed with the workshop before despatch. Geartide takes no responsibility for damage or loss in transit unless the shipping method and packaging were agreed in advance and carried out as instructed. We recommend using a tracked and insured courier service for all postal submissions.

9. Uncollected watches

Watches that remain uncollected for more than 90 days after the agreed collection date, without prior communication from the client, may incur a storage fee. Geartide reserves the right to contact the client by all available means before taking any further action, and will not dispose of any watch without first making reasonable attempts to reach the owner.

10. Disclaimers

Services are provided on the basis of the watch's condition at the time of assessment. We cannot be held responsible for pre-existing damage, latent defects, or issues that arise from the watch's age or condition that were not identifiable during assessment. Post-service timing results represent the movement's performance at the time of testing and may vary under different conditions of use and wear.

11. Limitation of liability

Geartide's liability for any claim arising from a service is limited to the value of that service as invoiced. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, including sentimental value or commercial loss. Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under Thai law.

12. Intellectual property

All content on this website — including text, images, and design — is the property of Geartide or its content suppliers and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may view and use the content for personal, non-commercial purposes only. Reproduction or redistribution for other purposes requires our prior written consent.

13. Governing law and dispute resolution

These terms are governed by the laws of Thailand. In the event of a dispute, we ask that you contact us directly in the first instance to seek an informal resolution. If resolution cannot be reached, disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Chiang Mai Province, Thailand.

14. General provisions

  • Entire agreement: These terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Geartide in relation to your use of our services and website.
  • Severability: If any provision is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full effect.
  • Waiver: Our failure to enforce a provision does not constitute a waiver of that provision.

15. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms from time to time. The current version is always available on this page, identified by the "Last Updated" date. Continued use of our services or website after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
